9th April 2008. Hest Bank, north of Morecambe. The main railway line from London to Glasgow is called the West Coast Main Line. Bit of a con really, as Hest Bank is the only part of the entire line where you can actually see the coast from the train.
(It's that bit to the top left of the picture with the Lakeland hills in the backgound).
It was taken from the footbridge over the level crossing and shows the signal/crossing box. I pressed the shutter button when the front of the train was roughly where the orange jacketed work crew are standing, but the camera delay and train speed means the Pendalino cab has run out of the bottom of the photo.
